Aurora Gaming made history in the competitive Counter-Strike 2 scene by securing their first ever Tier 1 tournament, defeating Brazilian squad Legacy 3-2 in a thrilling grand final at the PGL Masters Bucharest 2025. The showdown, held on November 1st, established the Turkish team as one of the emerging forces in the global CS2 landscape.

Thrilling five-map finale

The grand final was contested in a Bo5 (best-of-five) format, delivering a complete Counter-Strike spectacle for viewers. Aurora started dominantly, taking the first two maps: Dust2 13-11 and Mirage 13-8, leaving the Turkish squad just one victory away from the title.

However, Legacy demonstrated their resilience by mounting an impressive comeback. The Brazilians leveled the series by winning Train in overtime 19-17 and completely dominating Inferno with a convincing 13-8 scoreline, forcing the decisive fifth map.

Nuke decides the champion

The final map, Nuke, became a battle of nerves where Aurora's experience prevailed. Despite Legacy managing to tie the score at 11-11, the Turkish team showed composure in crucial moments to close out the map 13-11 and secure the championship title.

The victory represents a significant milestone for Aurora, who had previously suffered setbacks in important finals, including a 3-0 defeat to The MongolZ in the Esports World Cup 2025 final.

XANTARES leads Turkish performance

Turkish veteran Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş was the standout performer of the championship run, finishing the series with 103 kills against 83 deaths. His experience and individual skill were crucial in keeping Aurora focused during the most tense moments of the final.

Alongside XANTARES, Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın also delivered a solid performance, contributing 95 kills, demonstrating the collective strength of the Turkish squad.

Legacy showcases Brazilian strength

Despite the defeat, Legacy confirmed their status as one of the leading forces in current Brazilian Counter-Strike. The team led by Bruno "latto" Rebelatto and Lucas "lux" Meneghini showed tremendous determination by equalizing a series that seemed lost after being down 0-2 in the scoreline.

Their performance in the PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 final reinforces Legacy's positive momentum, having recently conquered the CS Asia Championships 2025 by defeating 3DMAX in the final.

Million-dollar prize pool

With the title, Aurora Gaming secured a total prize of $400,000 ($200,000 for the players and $200,000 for the organization), while Legacy received $187,500 for finishing as runners-up. The tournament distributed a total prize pool of $1.25 million among participants.

The victory marks the first major title for Aurora Gaming's current roster, which was formed in April 2025 with the signing of Eternal Fire's entire lineup. This result positions the Turkish team as prime contenders for upcoming major tournaments in the CS2 global calendar.
