Bilibili Gaming and FlyQuest Receive Shocking Eliminations from Worlds 2025
The final day of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage is behind us! That means we now have the final three teams qualified for the Knockout Stage—Top Esports, CTBC Flying Oysters, and T1. With that, the last three teams to exit the biggest stage of competition in the Swiss Stage were FlyQuest, Bilibili Gaming, and Movistar KOI.
While not many expected KOI to make it to the Knockout Stage, the biggest surprises for fans of the game were the eliminations of Worlds 2024 Grand Finalist Bilibili Gaming and arguably the best Western team at Worlds, FlyQuest.
CTBC Flying Oysters Knock Out FlyQuest
For many, FlyQuest were the best team to represent the West at Worlds 2025. The inaugural (and only) LTA Champions had shown a form and dexterity unlike others, and their performance at MSI 2025 'Inspired' a lot of confidence. Unfortunately, their Swiss Stage performance did not reflect that.
After losing to T1 in the first round, they made quick work of Vivo Keyd Stars and Team Secret Whales to face G2 Esports in the 2-1 bracket. The game went in G2’s favor, forcing FlyQuest to face CTBC Flying Oysters in the final round of Swiss.
The series started close, with FlyQuest very much in contention, but CFO closed it out in the end. The second game was much cleaner from CFO, and their Western opponents couldn’t keep up, losing the series. Despite amazing performances from Bwipo and Inspired, their bot lane couldn’t keep up with Doggo and Kaiwing, leading to an upsetting elimination.
Worlds 2024 Grand Finalist Bilibili Gaming Are Out
Arguably the biggest upset of the Swiss Stage, BLG were, for many, guaranteed Knockout contenders. Unfortunately, unexpected losses to 100 Thieves and G2 Esports meant they had to play on the final day.
The big reason for BLG’s struggles was definitely the volatility in their jungle, and that carried over into their final Swiss game against Top Esports. Despite a close series, they couldn’t clutch it out, losing their Playoffs spot.
Faker Eliminates Movistar KOI
With only eight out of sixteen teams making it out of Swiss, no one really expected KOI to qualify. Their best chance was the Day 2 game against G2 Esports, which they failed to win. Funnily enough, they still had a chance to make it through if they had drawn FlyQuest for the final matchup—but instead, they drew T1, sealing their fate.
In the two-game series, KOI made it quite a spectacle. They came very close, but Faker doesn’t get eliminated in the Knockout Stage—and so he didn’t—hard carrying the struggling T1 over the finish line. The series also became the most-watched game of Worlds 2025, peaking at 2.56M viewers.
Worlds 2025 now enters the final stage of the competition. The Quarterfinal draws are already up, with action resuming on October 28 at 12 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. CET.
