G2 Esports Promotes Babybay to Starting Lineup Replacing JonahP
In a move that caught many fans off guard, G2 Esports announced the promotion of Andrej “babybay” Francisty to the team’s active roster, replacing long-time member Jonah “JonahP” Pulice. The news follows G2’s decision just two days earlier to part ways with JonahP, marking the end of an era for one of the organization’s most consistent performers.
JonahP had been part of G2’s story since the very beginning of their VALORANT journey. When G2 acquired The Guard roster after their VCT Ascension Americas 2023 win, JonahP was one of the core members of that lineup. His presence helped fuel G2’s rapid rise through the VCT Americas circuit.
From Consistency to Dominance
G2’s results with JonahP in the lineup speak for themselves. In their debut season, the team claimed second place at VCT Americas 2024 Stage 1, followed by a top-three finish at VALORANT Masters Shanghai, and yet another second-place result in Stage 2 later that year.
But the 2025 season was where G2 truly etched their names into VCT history. They completed an unprecedented Americas three-peat, winning Kickoff, Stage 1, and Stage 2 events in a single year. JonahP was instrumental in that run, contributing to their stability across this dominant campaign.
Babybay’s Redemption Arc
For babybay, this promotion is a return to the top stage. He has worn the G2 jersey before, joining during VCT Americas 2025 Stage 2 to fill in for leaf. During his seven matches with the roster, he helped G2 secure a 6-1 record, with their only defeat coming against Sentinels.
That performance seems to have left a lasting impression on G2’s management. His energy, mechanical skill, and veteran presence have now earned him a full-time starting spot – a second chance to prove he belongs among the league’s best.
As of now, JonahP’s next move remains uncertain. Whether he finds a new home soon or takes time to reset, his contributions to G2’s success will not be forgotten. As for babybay, the team appears confident that they’re in safe hands. G2’s decision suggests both trust and ambition in a belief that the future may once again be written in their favor.
