Gen.G Win the LoL Esports World Cup 2025
Fresh off their win at MSI, Gen.G have now done it again! After a thrilling Grand Finals that went the distance against Anyone's Legend, Gen.G have been crowned champions of the Esports World Cup 2025.
With the win, Gen.G celebrate their incredible undefeated streak with yet another trophy, taking their international domination to another level.
Gen.G Secure Back-to-Back Trophies
At this point in time, Gen.G simply don't know what it's like to lose. It was only a week ago that Gen.G were busy lifting the MSI 2025 trophy. Now, the team came fired up into the Grand Finals of the EWC, ready to come away with yet another title.
Gen.G dominated their LPL rivals in the first two games of the series to set up what looked like it would be a clean sweep. Anyone's Legend, however, would not go down without a fight. The LPL Champions woke up just in the nick of the time, taking the next two games to take the Finals to a deciding Game 5.
When push came to shove, though, Gen.G gave their opponents little room to breathe in an utterly dominant display, taking the final game of the series in just 28 minutes of play to secure back-to-back international trophies in only a week.
After playing a crucial role in all of his team's wins in the series, including a stellar showing on Ambessa in Game 2, Gen.G's Kim "Kiin" Gi-in was crowned Finals MVP!
A Win Streak for the Ages: Gen.G Dominate
This team is simply on top of the world right now. Ahead of MSI, Gen.G went undefeated in the first half of the LCK 2025 Season. Since then, Gen.G have gone on to play against some of the best teams from all over the world at both MSI and the EWC. And yet, their undefeated run remains untouched.
With the win over Anyone's Legend, Gen.G are now on a 26-0 undefeated match streak. The last time the team lost a series was during the finals of the LCK Cup against Hanwha Life Esports, back in February. The question now is: can Gen.G keep their incredible run of form ahead of Worlds 2025?
EWC: Viewership Plummets
According to Esports Charts, the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 had a peak viewership of 1.2 million viewers during the Grand Finals. Though these numbers may not look bad at first glance, they pale in comparison to those pulled by MSI just a week prior.
As a far more historic tournament in League of Legends, MSI 2025 saw a peak of over 3.4 million viewers tune in to catch the action. That means that MSI 2025 saw nearly three times the viewership numbers of the EWC 2025. Perhaps money can't buy everything after all.
