T1 Sweep Top Esports to secure Fourth Consecutive Worlds Finals
Like clockwork, Faker and T1 are back at the top of League of Legends esports. Despite coming into Worlds 2025 as the LCK’s fourth seed, they have taken down Top Esports to secure another Grand Finals appearance for the fourth year in a row.
T1 Stomps Top Esports
After Anyone's Legend lost to T1 in the quarterfinals, Top Esports was the LPL’s last hope at Worlds 2025. While not the region's best bet, Top Esports featured some of the best players China has ever produced in 369 and JackeyLove. Especially with Gen.G falling to KT Rolster in the first semifinal, if Top Esports had secured the Grand Finals, they would’ve had a good shot at winning the Worlds title for the LPL. Unfortunately, Top Esports faced the LPL’s worst opponents possible at Worlds — T1 — who had just taken down the region’s very best.
Game 1 of the series started slow. During the Atakhan fight, Doran isolated Kanavi with Mordekaiser’s Realm of Death, killing the TES jungler and securing the Atakhan, Baron, and by extension, the game for T1. In both Games 2 and 3, T1’s composition outscaled TES, and despite the LPL side trying their hardest, they simply couldn’t keep up with their opponents. With the third nexus falling, T1 secured their spot in the Worlds 2025 Grand Finals.
While Faker was named the MVP of the series, Oner and the rest of T1 were consistently on top of their opponents, each having their moments throughout the series.
While the rest of T1 is used to the “scaling with the pressure” narrative, Doran has been keeping up with the squad. Together, they are looking like a team fully prepared to lift the Summoner’s Cup.
The win also means Faker and T1 have extended their undefeated LPL streak to 13-0, still standing as “the tallest mountain and the longest river” that the LPL has yet to summit.
The series also set a new viewership record for Worlds 2025.
With 3.59 million people tuning in to watch the Unkillable Demon King secure his 8th Grand Final in 10 Worlds appearances, it’s a truly unimaginable feat.
Telecom War for Worlds 2025 Grand Finals
The final telecom war of 2024 was played for Worlds qualification — for 2025, it will be played for the Worlds title itself.
With both rivals subverting expectations, KT Rolster especially, they will meet on the Summoner’s Rift for one final series to conclude the competitive LoL season.
A week from now, on November 9, T1 and Faker will take on KT Rolster for their sixth title and the three-peat, while BDD and co. will fight for their first. The action kicks off at 7:00 am CET / 11:00 pm PT with the opening ceremony. Watch it live on Twitch/YouTube or the LoL Esports website.
